Setback requirements in the zoning bylaws restricted how we could expand this house. We limited new foundation work to columns that support an expanded family room, which created a new covered area in front of the existing garage below. We fit other additions into the house's existing footprint. We created a new mudroom on the first floor and a new office on the second floor. We converted the attic into a new master suite with views to the Boston skyline. |
