The owners of this house cultivated their back yard into essentially another room in the house, but there was little connection between the house's interior and the site.

We expanded the kitchen, added windows to the back of the living room, and created a porch with wide stairs cascading down to the yard.

The addition's shape, materials, and details were carefully chosen to make it feel as if the addition wasn't an addition at all, but had always been part of the house.
