This house had been through a lot since it was built in the 19th century. It was moved on the site, expanded several times, converted to a funeral home, then it lay empty for years.
We renovated it extensively, and split it into two housing units. Since the house had continuously evolved from the time it was built, we didn't strive to recreate its appearance from any specific date. But we respected its history and took cues from its massing, details, and similar houses in the area.
The completed project received a preservation award from the Cambridge Historical Commission.
